Botanical Threads, Contemporary Cut
Whether it be seeing a sunrise, gazing over a mountainscape, or even just watching the leaves change colors with the seasons, everyone is likely familiar with the beauty that nature creates. At the same time, whether it be through watching the news or real-life experience, many are also aware of how powerful and commanding nature is capable of being. Rebel Roots Forest Floor Collection explores the feelings that come along.
It was this dichotomy that the emerging South Carolina-based brand Rebel Roots took inspiration from for their latest collection. At the heart of their brand, Rebel Roots looks to redefine traditional South Asian styles and silhouettes through a more contemporary lens.
Rebel Roots Forest Floor collection, their most recent launch stays true to this ethos, while looking to nature or, more specifically, the forest for aesthetic reference points. For instance, one of the label’s most well-known designs is the reimagined sari, and the Forest Floor collection features a few of these designs.
Forest Floor Sari
One such design, called the “Forest Floor Sari,” sees a stunning strapless gown in a green leaf print and elegant black piping around the bustline, layered underneath a diaphanous sari in the same fabric. Another consists of a bold red off-the-shoulder bustier top with a striking red mushroom printed sari draped on top.
Other silhouettes and nature motifs are explored as well. A particularly stunning standout is the “Butterfly Dress.” Crafted out of a striking chartreuse fabric, the high neck is flanked by two sheer cap sleeves, giving the dress a winged look, akin to that of a butterfly.
Modern Silhouettes with botanical Roots
The “Beetles Dress” is similarly playful. It sees a simple, yet elegant sundress style imagined in a lilac fabric printed with blue beetles. With the unique print and classic silhouette, the dress is an undoubtedly fun staple piece for the spring and summer seasons.
With each garment in their latest collection, Rebel Roots seamlessly captures the beauty and power of both nature and the women they dress. Continuing their tradition of exploring and reimagining customary Indian silhouettes through the forest floor theme further establishes their distinct brand identity, but also their commitment to innovation. Simply put, they invite you to not only think outside of the box of traditional dress codes, but also to pay homage to Mother Nature while doing so.
