Lola Casademunt by Maite brings the “Iconic Luxor” collection to fashion week. The fashion house is a Catalan brand that has grown significantly in sales and presence over the last two years. The company’s CEO, Paco Sánchez described the quintessential Lola woman: “They like to bask in the sun, but above all, they love fashion and enjoy it.” The creative director is Maite Gassó, the founder’s daughter, Lola Casademunt. The aesthetic is surely based on broad appeal. In truth, it is a point of pride that the 92-year-old founding innovator wears Lola. By the same token, her 13-year-old granddaughter also wears Lola.
Lola Casademunt by Maite: Iconic Luxor
Ancient Egyptian civilization particularly inspired this collection and paid homage to their culture, colors, and designs. Lola’s clothes are always meant to be timeless, and this runway presentation unquestionably reemphasized that goal. Moreover, the models paraded against a backdrop that represented Luxor at its height. Equally important, Lola utilized beadings and other embellishments in golden and silvery hues combined with organza and Lurex, made from metallic fibers, to create dresses with volume and layers. The animal prints utilized were certainly selected to represent wildlife sacred to Ancient Egypt. Nonetheless, what was unique was the pairing of these prints with a vibrant paisley.
Lola and Maite know it
The use of paisley and animal prints was stunning due to the intelligent skeleton of color, reminiscent of the desert with its dunes, palm trees, and the Nile. At the same time, Lola also designed accessories that referenced hieroglyphics with their geometric shapes and beetles. One outfit undeniably exemplified the collection with a maxi dress that utilized a leopard print and abstract paisley in shades of pink, purple, and shots of green. The top flowed beautifully, mimicking a robe while still attached to a gorgeous bodice and long skirt.
In conclusion, Lola knows how to create beautiful flowing garments that are sensual, dramatic, modern, and accessible to all ages. Therefore, it is easy to see the Lola woman walking under the bright golden sun through Malaga or anywhere. Confident that she looks beautiful and, more importantly, with a sense of fun. Without a doubt.
