Let’s turn back time to a magical evening where pure enchantment lingered in the air. On Thursday, April 3, 2025, St. Thomas University presented its annual Fashion & Food Showcase show. And oh, it was everything. The showcase delivered an unforgettable stylistic experience that resonated long after the final note disappeared, leaving the audience breathless with its artistic impact.

Picture this: glamorous models from The Walk Collective moved along the runway while glowing in the golden light of a Florida sunset. Very special fashion designers, such as Cuban-American fashion designer Yas González, were featured alongside Project Runway Season 17 winner Jhoan Sebastian Grey

And the energy? Electric. South Florida’s elite taste-makers gathered in numbers exceeding 700 to embrace the atmosphere while experiencing DJ Manuela Vibes music alongside Sasha Perea who hosted her role as Commissioner of Fashion, Arts, and Events. The audience responded with a collective gasp as every stunning piece took the stage.

Educational Support & Heart

But beyond all the glamour, there was heart. The showcase celebrated both the hard work of almost 100 St. Thomas University students and the educational support provided through experiential learning opportunities and scholarships for fashion and culinary studies.

The “McDCouture” collection left an indelible mark with its innovative design from recycled McDonald’s materials, showcasing endless creativity that night. The event became a unique intersection of art, fashion, and culinary arts, which created a multisensory celebration of the future and remains an unforgettable memory.

All present experienced a transformative moment that captured South Florida’s essence. The lingering sound of applause combined with innovative culinary flavors and glimpses of inspired design continue to exist.
