Acromatyx, which Xavi García and Franx de Cristal lead, debuted at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall/Winter 24-25 with “005 Techno”. They are a fascinating brand. They focus on an aesthetic of gender fluidity and the idea that beauty should be identified by both what exists before us and what we shy away from. The brand believes that sheltered under the frivolity of the noise of everyday life, there is more. They consider freedom, honesty, and the authenticity of imperfection as foundations of their brand of beauty. Acromatyx backs up its artistic posture with impeccable tailoring and design that withstands time, all while fetishizing the color black.

Inspiration

Acromatyx’s collection is called “005 Techno”. It is inspired by the Techno music that surged out of the electronic music scene in Detroit and Germany. April 5, 1998, was when the word Techno was first used to describe futuristic and rebellious music. Which now perfectly describes Acromatyx’s latest collection. Xavi García and Franx de Cristal explained that their inspiration was a personal choice and came from a childhood fascination with the music of the future, Techno. “A music that has inspired us and continues to do so because Techno is not just music; it is a feeling, a way of looking forward, and a culture,” they said.

This collection features severe, elegant clothes wreathed in avant-garde chic. There are jackets and coats without lapels, overlapping garments, and looser fitting outfits, which nonetheless provide shape to the body. The clothes are gorgeous and are made to be worn by any age, body shape, or gender without bias.

The first two designs on the runway were immediately impressive, with transparent shirts and tailored trousers. The shirts provided the illusion of thin black ribbons sparkly across the torso, sexily enhancing the model’s body. There was a version that was ankle-length and another hip-length. Both versions refused to adhere to a gender and could easily be worn by anyone.

The collection is dominated by black, allowing the two designers to experiment with textures and fabrics. Although the brand focuses on sustainable and recycled fabrics, it utilizes various textiles such as wool, cloth, poplin, and organic cotton.

Among the collection’s highlights was the outerwear with matte black and light-reflecting fabric, hinting at Techno’s love of futuristic vibes. The coats, jackets, and hoodies played with shape and form to present a new view of old standards.

Acromatyx is vital and exciting. It has an edgy aesthetic, but the clothes remain beautiful. This juxtaposition of creativity and beauty is extremely hard to accomplish. It also makes it more exciting to wear these clothes and look forward to what we do next.
