XVStrange, a unique fashion brand based in Madrid, was created in 2018 by two best friends – Devins & Jack Lucid. The brand’s distinctive focus on designing unisex collections for an audience that seeks uniqueness in how they dress sets it apart. This unique approach challenges traditional gender norms and invites the audience to explore new ways of self-expression.

The brand name stems from the founder’s desire to establish a connection between the essence they want to convey and a universally relatable concept. They focus on the concept of “emotions.” Recognizing that emotions are most intense during adolescence, particularly at the age of 15 or 16, they derived the name XV Strange from this pivotal period in life.

XVStrange passionately believes in the transformative power of clothing. They understand that what we wear can influence our moods and feelings, and they aim to empower their customers through their designs. The brand believes that for designers, garments are canvases that express themselves and connect with the person wearing them.
Street art, such as graffiti, abstract painting, and punk, inspires much of XVStrange’s collections, helping to turn garments into canvases where creativity flows freely.

A Path to Expression

The new collection is called “Mowande”. The concept of “Mowande” is the artist’s path to the work, the search for the connection with the source of inspiration and inner creativity to achieve the physical expression of the visualized work. The brand believes that through sleep paralysis, designers are confronted with their subsequent work of art.

In the visions of sleep paralysis, designers visualize the canvas, a canvas wrapped and exposed with graffiti of dark faces that stain the canvases with their faces. Their minds adjust at an intense speed as they create a path within the dream to bring the end goal into physical reality, artistically confronting their next work to show designs they identify with.

A Work of Art

It is a mixed collection made up of 9 men’s and 6 women’s looks, including trousers, shirts, jackets, skirts, and dresses. The fabrics used will be synthetic leather, synthetic suede, wool, cotton, and organza, among others. These fabrics will be treated with unique techniques such as hand-painting, distressing, and embossing to achieve the desired finish, making each piece a work of art.

One look in particular stood out. It was a combination of a white jacket and trousers with black smears. The coat had a high, stiff collar that closed while the body of the jacket was cut to remain open. It was a remarkably sexy look, but clearly, the jacket was beautifully tailored with black snaps that gave the illusion that it could be closed. The trousers were on target, wide and loose, but fitted at the ankles. The trousers were deconstructed and were a backdrop for the graffiti that was present throughout the collection.

As for the future, XVStrange’s vision is ambitious and exciting. It includes expanding its presence globally and collaborating with a broader array of photographers and stylists. The brand’s future is filled with potential, and they aim to establish a comprehensive vision in Spain that resonates with people and garners widespread acceptance.

Having accomplished multiple successful shows in the past three years, XVStrange is confident in its abilities and the transformative changes the next five years will bring. The brand believes that this period will afford them ample time for personal growth and the opportunity to surround themselves with the best influences.
