You should know each other: two young and talented Almaty designers have united to create a symbiosis that is tireless and impeccable. Following their successful participation in the Next Designer Award Empowered by Visa, Ailen Bektenova and Ayaulum have now presented their joint collection “Tiregim-Özim” (“My Support is Myself”).

The collection, which is much more of a statement of inner resilience than just a collection, was created as an expression of friendship and a desire to turn their own emotional experience into something everyone can understand.

Conceptually, Tiregim-Özim wants to show that inner power is the most important support. It helps to show her as a woman who is both gentle and brave. The idea of the collection is well communicated through the parts – there is a wonderful combination of vulnerability and unbridled freedom, which ultimately does justice to tradition and modernity at the same time.

The Cane as Strength

The most memorable part of the collection, however, remains a cane.

It is time to change the association with canes. The cane, used in this collection, is a thing of strength, dignity, and character. The support and stability it provides allow women to stay in place and advance firmly and with purpose. The cane can be considered the crowning glory of the woman who supports herself.

The clothing here also serves as a metaphor: for protection, for encouragement. The pieces wear you, they tell you that you are strong and that you are your own best support. The designers sum it up beautifully: “We want to show her as a whole world – strong, multifaceted, confident in herself. Tiregim-Özim is a recognition that the main support for each of us lies within ourselves,” the designers told us.

You have to have the collection – it’s the armour for the modern mind.
