Reparto’s new collection, ‘Rated R,’ delves into existential fears and the most intimate insecurities, reclaiming vulnerability as a crucial part of its identity. This exploration of the duality between life and death, desire and emptiness, and beauty and decay invites us to contemplate our own fears and insecurities.

Reparto draws inspiration from 17th-century vanitas. This is a genre of still-life painting that became popular in the Netherlands during the 17th century. The artworks are filled with symbolic objects meant to remind the viewer of the transience of life, the futility of worldly pursuits, and the certainty of death. In this way, the collection reminds us that every pleasure, power, or perfection is transitory. Nostalgically, ‘Rated: R’ also resonates with the creative directors’ aesthetic of their adolescence, a time when fears and insecurities began to shape their personalities.

It's All Vanitas

The first outfit on the runway was a fascinating slip dress that hugged the model’s body, paired with an all-black bolero shrug featuring long sleeves. The dress itself was fundamentally grey, with gorgeous imagery that featured pops of poppy pink, bone yellow, and slight touches of green. The imagery transfixes you and almost forces you to delve deeply to consider its meaning. The outfit was beautifully tailored and elegant in a very fashion-forward manner.

Another outfit that caught attention was a faux grey fur combination of a hoodie and pants. The model wore the design with the hood up, almost totally encapsulating their face. One might think that an outfit like this would overwhelm the wearer, but quite the opposite is true. It was fitted to the model, and although it was presented on the runway for maximum drama, one could easily envision a fashionista wearing it on the streets of New York, Barcelona, or Paris with pride and insouciance.

In recent collections, Reparto has expanded its offerings beyond apparel to include accessories designed in collaboration with other designers. Reparto’s founders, Margil Peña and Ana Viglione, have demonstrated a willingness to explore deeply personal themes in their collections, such as their teenage fears, as seen in October 2025. This approach sets them apart from other brands and suggests future collections will continue to be introspective, vulnerable, and humorous.

About Reparto

Reparto, a Madrid-based fashion studio, is the brainchild of designers Margil Peña and Ana Viglione. Their unique approach to design, which often involves exploring social topics and personal experiences with humor and vulnerability, sets them apart in the fashion industry.

Reparto was born in Madrid in 2019, and through its collections, Reparto explores today’s reality by portraying the casual encounters of imaginary people while reflecting their hopes and fears. The brand loves irony but is very straightforward in addressing the founder’s personal experiences, tackling complex and unexpected themes with a touch of humor.

Capturing the spirit of the times through collective imagination, Reparto is unafraid to act as a mirror for both the fashion industry and society, inviting all of us to question why we are where we are and why we do what we do.
