Palomo Spain launched its eighteenth collection, titled “Eighteen,” at MBFW Madrid during its opening day. The title has dual meanings: it marks the milestone of coming of age and symbolizes newfound freedom. This collection represents an important moment in Palomo Spain’s journey.
The “Eighteen” collection feels like stepping into a Sofia Coppola film. Soft pastel hues of pink, light green, and blue drape the garments, evoking a gentle nostalgia. The fabrics feel intimate and tender. Yet Alejandro Palomo pairs these with bold, unexpected cuts and striking silhouettes, expressing a longing for freedom and self-expression.

It revisits familiar design elements such as leather, ruffles, and taffeta and balances these with more restrained and commercial silhouettes. This balance sets “Eighteen” apart from previous, more extravagant collections. Notably, the collection features a stronger presence of womenswear. These female looks, once secondary in Palomo Spain’s traditionally male-centric world, now stand confidently with the menswear.
A standout detail is the use of Swarovski crystals, shaped into delicate flowers in shades of green, blue, and pink. They add a subtle sparkle to the pieces.
