Who could blame a 12-year-old girl, driven by her astonishment for Manolo Blahnik’s designs, for setting to work customizing some pairs of sneakers? What began as an innocent creative impulse would soon turn into something far greater: she actually sold many of those sneakers, and without even realizing it, took the very first step toward what would later become a stellar career in fashion design.

All these years

Paloma Suárez, a young native of La Palma in the Canary Islands, made the decisive choice to devote her professional life to fashion when, following the unexpected success of those sneakers, she enrolled at ESNE at just 18 years old, graduating with honors ten years ago, in 2015.

At this edition of MBFWM, the brand celebrates a decade of creative evolution and loyalty to its essence with a collection that pays tribute to the designer’s roots. Her home island is often illustrated as resembling a heart, and it is precisely this symbol that serves as the central thread of her proposal, being both a metaphor for the deep emotional ties that bind her to her roots, and a reflection of the authenticity that continues to define her work

The early years of a fashion house demand a resilience under pressure worthy of a diamond, one that holds firm despite the tide of challenges surrounding it. This collection is somehow the culmination of those years, the lessons, achievements, and mistakes that now make up the story of Paloma Suárez. Luxury, innovation, and the volcanic energy so characteristic of La Palma converge throughout the designs.

Among her proposals this time, we see the use of volume and prints as a way of elevating timeless pieces such as the shirt or the tailored suit. Abstract symmetrical patterns and black tulle embellish the models’ silhouettes with both lightness and spectacle. Purples, blacks, earthy tones, and electrifying hues take center stage in this narrative filled with depth, purpose, and soul.
