Nazarelli is an elegant, understated Ukrainian brand founded in 2021 by Anna Nazaryan, a former civil servant. Originally based in Kharkiv, the brand has become a prominent name in the Ukrainian fashion scene, recently debuting on the Ukrainian Fashion Week (UFW) catwalk.

The brand focuses on femininity, elegance, and self-love. It aims to empower women through sophisticated, timeless pieces that highlight natural beauty without being overwhelming. The brand is already known for clean lines, structured silhouettes, and a minimalist color palette. The latest collection, “Reborn Me,” is inspired by the resilience of Ukrainian women and the minimalist work of sculptor Richard Serra.
Sculptural Influence: Richard Serra Meets Fashion
This collection was created during one of the most difficult winters for Ukraine. The contrast between almost unimaginable external challenges and Anna’s thirst for life is truly inspiring. The collection is elegant but imbued with sensuality and drama.
Ana Nazaryan stated, “I thought a lot about Ukrainian women, who today look like steel, but inside each one, emotions are raging. For me, this is where true femininity lies — it’s not a demonstration, but an internal state of composure and awareness of one’s own strength.”

The collection focuses on an architectural interpretation of its silhouettes. There are structured jackets layered with prominent shoulders and stand-up collars that visually stretch the shape.
Legendary American minimalist sculptor Richard Serra is a major muse for Nazarelli. The collection combines Serra’s overall geometry and specific sculpture, in which steel sheets lean against each other, with only slight gaps between them. Similar “gaps” became visual accents on the collection’s jackets, specifically the red inserts that move in motion and symbolize impulsivity and an eagerness for life.

The collection uses translucent textures, ultra-light fabrics, and delicate cuts, which highlight the inner flame that every strong woman carries. Adds the designer. “For me, the contrast between dense construction and fragile matter emphasizes a woman’s ability to combine femininity and strength, doubt and protection, vulnerability and resilience, and true beauty lies precisely in this inner conflict between stability and changeability.”
A particular look that caught the eye is a classic crisp white blouse and an egregiously elegant emerald green skirt. The v-waist skirt is made of an ombre green fabric with a yoke that highlights the luscious draping. This skirt is asymmetrical with a short front and a long, full, billowy back. The skirt is paired with a full-sleeved white blouse with a daring low V-front that mimics the skirt. The blouse looks immensely comfortable and elegant with overlapping fabric, structured vertical lines, and a stand-up collar.
Another look is an all-black tunic paired with a long maxi skirt that looks effortless but is clearly very carefully constructed. The top is a long-sleeved, belted tunic that flares from the cinched waist in an upside-down “V” that falls over the hips. It is a unique and flattering piece which combines Nazarelli’s elegance and architecture. The skirt is long and billows out with a long slit up the side. Together, this outfit is unique and embodies the designer’s vision of femininity and strength.
Anna Nazaryan has indicated that future collections will move away from “proving something to the world” toward a focus on growth and reemphasizing her aesthetic. Here at Avessa, we look forward to her future collections.
