Malne: FRIDA XXIst

Malne paid homage to the legendary artist Frida Kahlo by blending her uncompromising spirit and vibrant aesthetic with a narrative on identity, tradition, and the emotional power of fashion that honors Mexico's rich culture without simply copying the past.

Malne La Maison showcased their new collection “FRIDA XXIst” at MBFW Madrid. The collection was inspired by the famous artist Frida Kahlo. From the start, the show felt special. It was not just a fashion event but a celebration of art and culture. The models walked down the runway showing Frida’s strong spirit. The clothes mixed different styles and showed that being unique is beautiful.

Frida Kahlo reimagined

One of the most beautiful parts of the collection was the use of flowers and butterflies as accessories. These appeared on the dresses and headpieces of the models. They felt alive and meaningful, honoring Mexico’s nature and Frida’s love of symbols. The big hats were also a favorite part of the show for me.

As the models walked down the runway, the colors changed from bright white with hand-stitched flowers, to colorful silk prints, and ended with the brand’s classic black. Everything looked elegant and well thought out.

I felt touched by how the collection showed Frida Kahlo’s spirit without copying her exactly. It felt modern and fresh but still showed respect for her strength and creativity. The details, especially the flowers and butterflies, made the show much better.

What I liked most was how the collection made me feel connected not just to Frida, but to a bigger story about identity, beauty, and tradition. It was emotional in a way I didn’t expect. I left the show feeling inspired and reminded of how powerful fashion can be when it carries meaning and reflects something deeper than just appearance.

This collection was more than just clothes. It honored Frida Kahlo and the rich culture of Mexico. Malne La Maison showed that fashion can be more than clothes. It can tell stories, connect the past and present, and inspire the future.
