Juan VG brings “GAMBERRXS” to the last day of Madrid’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. It is a genderless Spanish brand that specializes in upcycling second-hand garments. The brand revamps existing pieces into new creations. It mainly focuses on denim, knitwear, and the fusion of disciplines like patchwork and painting.

GAMBERRXS

His latest collection, “GAMBERRXS”, was showcased at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) in Madrid during its closing day. Altogether, the collection offers a reinterpretation of school attire and was inspired by the designer’s personal experiences growing up in Valladolid, Spain. Having attended a charter school with a strict uniform policy, Juan also felt constrained and unable to fully express himself. As a matter of fact, this is what inspired him to create this collection.

“GAMBERRXS” reflects this struggle. All in all, it merges the brand’s aesthetic with upcycling techniques and illustrations to create a vibrant yet rebellious vision. The collection embodies a playful yet gritty vibe, drawing on childhood nostalgia while challenging societal norms.

The “GAMBERRXS” runway presentation exuded vibrant energy, embracing a playful school-themed atmosphere. Before the models showcased the designs, Juan treated the audience to a short fashion film highlighting the collection’s inspiration. Juan VG’s sustainable collection emphasizes the use of denim, as well as school uniform inspired polo shirts, and ties. His use of recycled materials reflected his dedication to eco-friendly fashion.

Notably, the “GAMBERRXS” collection garnered attention and acclaim when it earned a spot as a finalist in the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent award.

The runway show for “GAMBERRXS” was not only a display of innovative fashion, but also a nostalgic journey back to school. With its lively atmosphere and nods to childhood memories, the show was a delightful experience for all attendees. Overall, the event served as a testament to the brand’s capacity to blend nostalgia with sustainable fashion. The runway quite literally turned into a walk down memory lane.
