Pablo Erroz brought something truly special to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid this season. The Residence was bold, thoughtful, and full of heart. In fact, the long line outside the venue before the doors opened said it all. This was going to be packed. By the time I got to my seat, the room was already buzzing. I had seen his previous collection, The Hotel, at this same venue last February, so I already knew what he was capable of. Even so, The Residence took things to a whole new level.
Pablo drew his inspiration from the idea of an artist residency. It is a space where creative people come together, share ideas, and build something bigger than themselves. As a result, that energy came through in every look. The message was clear. Our differences do not divide us. Instead, they make us stronger.
A Bold Celebration of Creative Unity
Thirty mixed looks came down the runway, and sustainability remained at the heart of all of them. The colors of the collection started with natural, warm tones. Blacks and off-whites led the way, and then greens and soft pinks followed, giving everything a fresh, lively feel.
The fabrics were just as thoughtful. For instance, silk, linen, leather, viscose, and light wool mixed with sequins and hand-done embroidery. My favorite detail, however, was a special Ikat fabric made in Mallorca by Bujosa Textil. You could not find that anywhere else. On top of that, Pablo brought back pieces from past seasons. Less waste, more meaning.
Then came a moment that caught me off guard, in the best way. Not only did the models walk the runway, but dogs did too. They wore a mini clothing and accessories line made in partnership with Kiwoko. A portion of the profits goes to animal shelters to raise awareness around responsible pet adoption.
Similarly, Pitillos designed the shoes, and they tied everything together perfectly. Yet the biggest surprise came at the very end. Karla Sofía Gascón, star of Emilia Pérez, walked the runway as a model. The room went wild. To close it all out, Gloria Gaynor’s I Am What I Am played, and honestly, it was the perfect song for everything Pablo put out there.
As I stepped out of the hall, I could still hear people around me talking about the collection. The excitement was real. Altogether, this was one of those shows you do not forget, and I cannot wait to see what Pablo Erroz does next.
