One of Mongolia’s most prominent fashion houses, founded in 2015 by sisters Yanjindulam Choigaalaa (Michel) and Nyamkhand Choigaalaa (Amazonka), brought one of the most talked-about collections to this edition of Visa Fashion Week Almaty.
Michel & Amazonka define their work as “prêt-à-couture”, blending the elegance and savoir-faire of haute couture with the accessibility and reach of prêt-à-porter. Their vision is built on reinterpreting traditional Mongolian garments, such as the deel (a unisex national garment), through the use of hand embroidery, symbolic details, and European-inspired silhouettes. This fusion creates a distinctive aesthetic that both honors Mongolia’s cultural heritage and positions the brand among the most acclaimed by today’s clientele.
Among their regular collections we find evening gowns, couture bridal pieces, bespoke designs, and limited prêt-à-porter lines, all rooted in the same philosophy: the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and the challenge of achieving timelessness in every creation.
The Masterpieces
For this occasion, Michel & Amazonka presented a carefully curated selection of 24 pieces distinguished by their character and delicacy, pieces defined by refined touches and meticulously crafted silhouettes, conceived by and for the final client. Each design reflects the brand’s commitment to quality and, above all, to its greatest source of inspiration: culture. The collection ranged from evening wear for special occasions to designs created entirely for everyday life, bringing elegance into the ordinary. Every embroidery on fur and cashmere, and every appliqué technique, underscores Michel & Amazonka’s passion and devotion to art and craftsmanship.

Starting with a dress that was both intricate yet understated, and continuing with embroidery tracing the models’ bodices and velvets draping skirts and coats, the runway seemed to gradually shed its layers until revealing genuine cultural influences translated into everyday clothing and striking evening looks. Puff sleeves and mini dresses were also present; two silhouettes that perfectly mark the line between daywear and nightwear.
With this major step onto the international stage, Michel & Amazonka aim to share the beauty of Mongolian heritage through fashion and to strengthen their reputation as one of the most powerful creative voices in Central Asia, earning global recognition.
